This event is an opportunity to improve analytical thinking skills while having fun competing with students from other districts. Numerous studies indicate that children who play chess regularly see improvements in reading and math scores. chess teacher critical thinking and problem solving.

For: students in grades K-12 who have had prior chess playing experience.

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Lunch: on your own from noon to 1:00pm

SCHEDULE:
There were not enough registrants for some of the divisions of this tournament to allow the students in that section to play four games. For this reason the tournament director, Steve Harder, has decided to combine some of the sections so that everyone will be able to play in all of the rounds. You may be contacted by Mr. Harder prior to the tournament to facilitate the rearrangement of these groups. Contact Mr. Harder at: chess@mtlake.org if you have any questions.
All students will have four match games. The schedule for the day listed below is subject to change based on length of games.
8:30 – Registration & Refreshments
8:45 – Game 1
9:45 – Game 2
10:45 – Game 3
11:45– 12:45 – LUNCH – on your own
1:00 – Game 4
2:00 – Awards
High school games will be Game/30.

NO registrations will be accepted after the final registration deadline.
