Student Activities: Creating Spaces Writing Contest

4th Annual Creating Spaces Writing Contest

This program was established as a partnership between the SMSU English Department and the SW/WC Service Cooperative to encourage a love of language and writing for all students and as a way to recognize the talented young writers in southwest and west central Minnesota. This year there is not a required theme. Students are free to submit any work that they like. Teachers who use the contest in their classrooms may establish themes if they choose to do so.

                                         Categories:

                                   Fiction (Grades 3-12)

                                   Poetry (Grades 3-12)

                               Non-Fiction (Grades 5-12)

Awards Ceremony (by invitation only) - Sunday, April 20, 2008 at Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall

Keynote Speaker: Vincent Wixon, a poet from Ashland, Oregon

For:
students in grades 3-12 can enter the contest through a classroom assignment or on their own. Includes Regular Ed, Students With Special Needs, Gifted & Talented, Home School, etc.
